Teams Place At Baker Track Meet
Track athletes from Culbertson, Bainville and Froid/ Lake scored during the Baker Invitational held on Tuesday, April 28.
Culbertson earned top honors in the boys’ division with 70 points. The Cowgirls placed 10th with 22 points.
Brooks Solem was a triple winner for the Cowboys, The junior placed first in the javelin at 165-2, first in the shot put at 44-0 and first in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.69 seconds. Solem added a fourth in the discus at 129-2.
Ian Snyder cleared 5-10 for third-place honors in the high jump.
Trust Magwaba ran to a third-place finish in the 100 at 11.65 seconds. Harrison Green was fourth in the 400 at 55.26 seconds.
Bennie Sullivan took fifth in the 300-meter hurdles at 49.74 seconds. Cal Steppler finished sixth in the 3200 at 11:24.93.
Plenny Williams placed sixth in the discus with a mark of 127-0.
The Cowboys’ 400-meter relay team of Green, Snyder, Mauricio Mena and Magwaba earned first at 46.44 seconds.
The 1600-meter relay team featuring Green, Mena, Magwaba and Snyder placed third at 3:47.00.
In the girls’ division, Anna Steppler ran to first-place honors in the 3200 at 13:02.98.
Emma Berwick took second in the shot put with a best of 33-9.
The Cowgirls’ 1600-meter relay team consisting of Kalia Featherston, Bella Petersen, Ally Simonsen and Steppler placed fourth at 5:01.72.
Bainville
The Bulldogs placed sixth in the girls’ division with 40 points and 13th in the boys’ division with 14 points.
Addison Hansen earned first place in the discus with a best of 108-7. The mark beats her own school record and qualifies her for state.
Hansen, a senior, placed third in the shot put with a mark of 33-6.
Hailey Berwick finished second in the 200 at 28.13, third in the 100 at 13.23 seconds and fourth in the 400 at 1:03.05. The senior took third in the javelin with a mark of 96-5.
Placing for Bainville’s boys in the javelin were Rowan Wilson with a third at 138-4 and Evan Anderson in fifth at 134-9.
Taking sixth were Keagan Vaira in the 400 at 56.19 seconds and Wilson in the 1600 at 5:07.77.
The boys’ 1600-meter relay team featuring Vaira, Parker Berwick, Wilson and Kaiden Holmes took fourth at 3:48.00. Froid/Lake
Froid/Lake’s boys tallied 14 points to tie for 13th place.
Lane Bakken finished third in the 3200 with a time of 10:59.49 and fourth in the 1600 at 5:04.58.
The 1600-meter relay team consisting of Rylan Young, Bakken, Bryce Murray and Cody Olson placed sixth with a time of 3:55.42.
Young had a mark of 18-7 for fifth place in the long jump.
Aaron Orozco earned sixth in the triple jump with a best of 35-5.
In the girls’ division, Atley Jensen placed second in the 1600 at 6:16.71 and fourth in the 800 at 2:43.92.
