Wolf Point’s track program started its season with 33 athletes this spring. The turnout includes 18 boys and 15 girls.

“Our girls’ team has quite a few back,” Coach Scott Montgomery said. “We have good jumpers and throwers.”

Returning athletes for the girls’ squad include Marley Moran, Amya Martinez, Teagan Williams, Navy Weeks, Ma’Kenzie Jackson, Adalynn Smith, Harper Weeks, Anna Matejovsky, Kaleigha Laverdure and Kamilla Melbourne-Hines.

Martinez, a senior, placed sixth at last year’s state track meet in the shot put with a best of 35-08.

Matejovsky is returning after placing fourth in the pole vault at the state meet.

The girls’ 400-meter relay team featuring N. Weeks, Matejovsky, H. Weeks and Smith qualified for the state meet last year.

Placing sixth at the divisional meet were N. Weeks in the 200 and Smith in the 400.

Back for the boys are Sean Hamilton, Tavian Bell, Michael Bad Hawk and Reilly Rees.

Hamilton took seventh in the javelin and ninth in the discus at the divisional level last year.

Transfer students who could help the Wolves include Kayden Charette, Maci Fourstar and Kevin Brock.

The addition of seniors Zandon Calder and Stone Lilley could benefit the Wolves in throwing events.

A challenge for the Wolves might be practicing since the track isn’t completed yet. The resurfacing company is anticipated to return to Wolf Point on April 20.

“We’ll figure it out,” Montgomery said. “I’m excited for the year. It should be a good season.”
