Poplar Track Team Returns Good Athletes In Distance Events

Poplar’s track program features a good turnout this spring as the Indians have 23 girls and 18 boys out for the sport.

“It’s a good turnout,” Poplar Coach Brent Moore said.

The Indians should be strong in distance races as many of the school’s cross country runners are competing in track.

Among the distance runners are Wilder Bear Cub, Jayden Eder, Alara Cooper, Kellyn Azure, Raylando Red Eagle and Liberty Boadle.

Moore notes that Poplar features many athletes in the long jump and triple jump.

Lilliana O’Neal should have a good season for Poplar’s girls in throwing events.

Assistant coaches for the Indians are John Wetsit and Karolyn Kohl.
