Brockton’s track squad features 15 athletes including eight girls and seven boys this season.

Heading the girls’ squad are returning standouts BraeLynn De-Marrias, a sophomore, and Taylor Cummins, a senior.

DeMarrias qualified for the divisional meet in both the 1600 and 3200-meter runs last season. Cummins qualified for the Eastern C meet in the 1600.

“I’m happy with the turnout,” Coach Ray Anthony Barron said.

Barron has coached at the junior high level since 2011. This is his first year as the high school team’s head coach.

“I’m confident that Taylor for the mile and two mile and BraeLynn will have good seasons,” Barron said. “We have to work on times and get to state this year.”

He feels that freshman Daniel Segubiense should have a strong season for Brockton’s boys in sprinting events.

The Warriors will open their season in Lambert on Friday, April 10.
