WPCO Elects Officers For New Year

The Wolf Point Community Organization held its annual meeting at the Silver Wolf Casino on Monday, March 16.

Outgoing chair Holly Hamilton thanked WPCO members for allowing her to serve in the position for the last two years. “It’s a lot of work, but worth it,” she said.

Jason Hamilton, who had been serving as WPCO’s treasurer, was voted as the new chair. Hamilton received 20 votes compared to Thomas Bauer with 15 votes and Darryl Ricker Sr. with eight votes.

Also elected were LaFaye Lizotte as vice chair, Marie Castro as secretary/ treasurer and Curtis Forrest as sergeant of arms.

An independent audit was performed by Tina Magnan. She said that everything looked great and all documents that were needed to review were close at hand.

“I would like to say that WPCO does great things in the community. That is so awesome. Keep up the good work,” Magnan wrote.

A total of $39,825.14 was spent in the activities account during the year. Expenses included $7,725 for an Amazon order for elders meal, $7,000 for Christmas supplies, $4,000 for fireworks, $2,500 for the Lord’s Table and $2,500 for a powwow.

For the youth account, $50,635.24 was spent. Projects included $13,360 for school backpacks, $10,000 for carnival tickets, $4,400 for back-to-school supplies, $3,000 for back-to-school prizes, $3,000 for Lady Yellowjacket softball, $3,000 for Bumble Bees’ softball, $2,000 for post prom, $2,000 for Bigger Sky Kids, $2,000 for Skillz and Drillz and $2,000 for Legion baseball.

There was $28,966.50 spent on education including $11,250 for graduation gift cards, $4,600 for Frontier School’s history competition, $5,000 for high school scholarships, $2,500 for Headstart and $2,000 for Assembly of God’s Bible camp.

For the powwow committee, $26,964.22 was spent for the year.

There was $14,008.22 spent for meetings, $4,415.56 for utilities and $2,600 spent on funerals.
