TEB Approves Corrections Funds, Stipulations

The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held its regular meeting Monday, Feb. 23. The board voted to approve the Economic Development Office to submit a proposal for BIA supplemental funding.

They also voted to approve the $2,150 monetary donation from Glen B Trust company.

A donation of $2,500 was approved to the Sam Mc-Cracken Youth Project.

The board voted to de-obligate $430,712.11 from the completed Brockton lagoon.

Sonosky & Chambers were approved for payment in the amount of $71,367.11 for legal services rendered for the months of November/December.

The board voted to approve $2,474,328.71 for Fort Peck Tribes Corrections. TEB acknowledged that $1.289,750.29 for the Bureau of Indian Affairs Juveniles Detention Center shall remain under the direct oversight and expenditure authority of Bureau Indian Affairs and Tribal Corrections operations shall comply with Bureau Indian Affairs and DOJ Detention standards, PREA requirements and all applicable federal and tribal policies. A motion was also passed to formally request the Bureau of Indians Affairs to provide immediate emergency funding and long term supplemental appropriations for Fort Peck Corrections to address the critical overcrowding crisis and unsafe jail conditions.

Mary Lou Azure was approved for associate judge and Marvin Youpee as the alternate associate judge until the next election in October 2027 to fulfill unexpired term.

The board voted to award Fort Peck tribal members Ronald G. Fast Horse and his Father Lester P. Fast Horse with a star quilt and award for their heroic actions showing exceptional bravery during a structure fire that occurred Dec. 26, 2025 in Poplar.

The donation of a buffalo was approved for the Poplar Fire Department.

A request was approved for the Harvest Now Through Sovereign Equity Fund in the amount of $10,000.

The board voted to upgrade the Eye in the Sky Camera System for the Fort Peck Tribes Chambers.

The TERO Department was approved to submit a payment to Tribal Express in the amount of $1,280.94 from FY 2020- 2024 with FY 2026 funding.

The board approved regulations for the 2026 spring turkey season for non-enrolled members in the exterior boundaries on the reservation. The spring turkey hunting season shall be open from April 15 to May 31. The season limit shall be one turkey per licensed hunter for the duration of the 2026 spring season. A limit of 60 turkey licenses will be issued. Any turkeys harvested must be reported to the Tribal Fish and Game along with location of harvest. Cost is $50 for residents and $75 out of state. Only the following methods shall be permitted: shotgun, archery. The use of rifles, handguns, or any other method not expressly listed above are prohibited. Hunters must obtain express permission from the landowner or authorized representative prior to hunting on private property. Proof of permission must be carried while hunting and presented upon request.

A change order from Corland Constructions LLC in the amount of $2,107.88 for a property sign was approved.

Walter White Tail Feather was approved for the position of 105L program manager.
