Urdahl Opens Equine Connection In Medicine Lake
“Equine means horse and it stuck so I used it,” said Louise Urdahl when asked how she came up with this title for her new Medicine Lake business. She opened The Equine Connection at 223 Main Street, a building that housed the old Security State business, then REC, followed by crafters and now this.
“I had been thinking about the business for about a year. Harvey and I enjoy being around and working with horses, the children are into showing their animals so it was the right thing to do. We have four horses at our place, quarterhorses and paints,” added Urdahl.
Louise has a friend in Glendive who runs a small store and she helped her get started. They share dealership and suppliers. And Louise has been taking suggestions gladly. “I know I had to reach out beyond horse tack and saddles, so I went into Lincoln, Montana Jerky, Salt City Candles, afghans, some toys, Montana Silversmith Jewelry and much more.”
Right now she carries some veterinarian supplies and in the future hopes to get into some livestock materials.
“The public has been very supportive and I appreciate it.” My family has been a lot of help, from husband Harvey to children: Tiffany, a junior at the University of Mosco in Idaho, studying pre-veterinarian; Hallie, a high school junior; Benjamin, a freshman and Boyce, in seventh grade, all at Medicine Lake public schools.”
“I have ordered some Montana calf saver blankets and keep adding to my supply of made-in-Montana products. I also have Leanin’ Tree greeting cards coming.”
The Urdahl family are making their home in Homestead.
The Equine Connection is open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
