Ryan Excels In School’s Drama, Speech Programs

Wolf Point High School senior Elliauna Ryan has treasured her experiences in flag football, speech and drama and plays during her time at the school.

She competed for two years in the flag football program. She said she liked being able to be on a team with all her friends and have a sport that they all could enjoy together.

Highlights have included playing in the state semi-final round game as a senior. “I was really surprised and happy,” she said of the experience.

She played mostly on the defensive side for the Wolves. She was pleased that she earned more field time this past season.

Ryan has been a standout in Wolf Point’s play productions throughout her high school days. She was the female lead in “Arsenic and Old Lace,” “Sweeey Todd, The Demon Barber of Barbary Coast,” and “The Crimson House Murder.” She also had a good role in this fall’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

“I love acting,” Ryan said. “But for the most fun part is being backstage with the others while waiting for our parts.”

She has also earned success in speech and drama as she and fellow senior Cole Boysun advanced to the state meet three times in humorous theatre. They placed fourth at last year’s state competition.

This year, she is competing in the humorous interpretative category. “We wanted to try something new,” Ryan explained.

She noted there are a lot of competitive students in the humorous interpretative division this year. “Hopefully, I can just make it to state,” Ryan said. “Just making it to state is good enough for me.”

In the classroom, her favorite subject is advanced biology. “I’ve always liked science and biology,” she said.

She plans to study veterinary sciences at Rocky Mountain College and one day become a veterinarian.

“I love animals, especially dogs,” she said.

Her favorite teacher is Jacob Boysun because he has served as her speech and drama coach. He welcomes her to hang out in his classroom.

As far as what she likes about Wolf Point, Ryan said, “We’re all pretty close and know each other. No one is too much of a stranger.”
