Snyder Runs To Success
Senior Profile Snyder Runs To Success
Culbertson High School senior Ian Snyder loves using his speed to achieve success in athletics for the Cowboys.
He competes in four sports, but his favorite one is track.
“It’s more of an individual sport and I place pretty good in it,” Snyder said.
Snyder finished fifth in the 100-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash at the state meet last spring. He also qualified for state in the 400-meter relay.
His goal for this spring is to place at least third at the state track meet.
In football, Snyder started at wide receiver and defensive back for the Cowboys.
He said he enjoys hanging out with his football teammates and that the coaches make the sport fun.
Snyder says basketball isn’t his main sport, but he says a highlight was beating Savage at the district tournament two seasons ago.
In golf, a memorable round was shooting a score of 105 in Glendive last year.
Snyder is also involved in FFA and Explore America.
His best FFA event is mechanics. “The welding part is probably my favorite,” Snyder said.
In the classroom, his favorite subject is agriculture.
“I can build stuff and work on my own stuff,” he said. He likes the hands-on projects.
His favorite teacher is Christina Olson because she is easy to talk with in the library.
Snyder said the community makes Culbertson a great place to live. “They come out and support the games. That means a lot,” he said.
After high school, Snyder will attend Lynnes Welding Academy in Bismarck, N.D. He plans to then have a career in the area.
