Bainville Council Discusses Speed Limits
The regular meeting of the Bainville Town Council was called to order at 7 p.m. by Mayor Toby Romo at the Bainville Town Hall. Present were Will Rathbun and John Gilligan by telephone. A quorum was established. Guests included David Norton.
Norton said thank you to the council for hanging the holiday lights on Main Street. Norton also asked to reach out to the state on removing the packed ice and snow on Clinton Street. He also noted a need for reflectors on Clinton Street coming off of U.S. Highway 2.
There were two quotes submitted for seamless gutters on the lagoon shops. The quote from Coponen for $4,080.00 was approved, contingent on the Romo’s specifications on downspout size, gutter size and anchors every 16”.
Fire Chief Norton mentioned that the new turnout kits are being delivered. The Bainville Volunteer Fire Department ordered four new kits, with the town purchasing two and the department purchasing two as well.
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office monthly report was reviewed. There were eight calls for service, zero arrests and two citations.
Discussion was held on decreasing the speed limit within the town. Council discussed looking at the policy on speed limits and will look into adding speed limit signs coming off of Clinton Street.
Council approval for the Annual Financial Report for 2025.
Discussion was held on selling a pivot owned by the town. The pivot has barely been used. Romo stated that the pivot should be worth between $40,000-$55,000.
Discussion was had on having an obsolete sale for the pivot and also the John Deere tractor and attachments.
Romo and Councilperson Gilligan were sworn in for their 20262029 terms.
Romo suggested pulling the 2” meters at the school to have them calibrated. Romo stated that many of the light bulbs on the holiday streetlights are out and suggested we reach out to the Bainville School agriculture department about possibly replacing the lights.
Water loss was at 9 percent for November.
The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. at Bainville Town Hall.
