After making significant strides last season, Brockton’s boys’ basketball squad looks to contend for one of the top spots in District 2C this campaign.

The Warriors have a turnout of 18 players this season.

“We’ve been consistent with about 15 in recent years,” Brockton’s Coach John Nygard said of numbers playing the sport. “It’s pretty good.”

Returning starters for Brockton are Josh Firemoon, Miles Boxer, Jared Fast Horse and Colter Nygard.

Among the other boys who will see quality minutes on the floor are Tefton Bear, Ronald Black Dog, CoDean Big Eagle and Weston Lambert.

“We’re going to be quick,” Coach Nygard said. “Our strong point is because we played together all season, we have good chemistry.”

The coach noted that the Warriors are very determined to achieve success.

“It won’t be given to us, we have to earn it,” Nygard said of being in the hunt for a district title.

He added the Warriors are hungry to put another banner on the school gym’s wall.

“That’s our goal this year,” he said.
