Coming off the best girls’ basketball season in school history, the Bainville Bulldogs aim to continue their winning ways this campaign.

The Bulldogs won both the conference and district tournament titles last year. Bainville then placed third at the divisional tournament. Coach Lance Berndt said the current group of seniors have enjoyed a good amount of success since the eighth grade.

Returning starters for the Bulldogs are seniors Hailey Berwick, Addison Hansen and Lila Butikofer. Berwick was an All-State selection while Butikofer was a second team All-Conference pick last season.

Other players with varsity experience include senior Chandi Johnson, sophomore Jodi Albus, sophomore Jaylynn Bjorge and junior Johnna Ryder.

The Bulldogs have a turnout of 16 players. He expects the squad to have a well-rounded scoring attack.

“It’s a team effort,” Berndt said about the offense. “I think the top scorer will be a different girl each night.”

The top three teams from District 2C will advance to the divisional tournament.

“I’m never super confident,” Berndt said. “I think the conference will be very competitive this year.”

He noted each District 2C teams has talent and players who work hard.

Among the league’s top squads are expected to include Richey/Lambert, Brockton, Savage and Froid/

Lake.
