Bisbee Offers Pow-Wow Calendar, Book

Local author Vicki Bisbee has been busy as she is releasing a calendar and her third book regarding Assiniboine culture. The calendar features a full list of pow-wows along with a photo for each month.

“I wanted to do the months, and I thought I might as well do a calendar,” Bisbee explained.

The calendars, which cost $10, are available by calling her at 406-650-7825.

She explained that a $10,000 grant from the tribal tourism grant helped her complete the project.

Bisbee’s new book is an Assiniboine counting book from 11-20. A previous book went from 1-10. The books are available through Amazon.

She said her next book will cover Assiniboine colors. She is hoping to have that book completed by the end of the year.

She has also produced two coloring books.

Born and raised on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, Bisbee attended Montana State University - Northern in Havre and earned a bachelor’s degree in business education in 1980 and a master’s degree in education, guidance and counseling.

In 1996, Bisbee enrolled in Native American studies at Fort Peck Community College and began her journey by participating in her first Medicine Lodge in 1997, which finished in June 2000.
