Trial For Ackerman Moved To February
The trial for Michael Ackerman, also known as Michael LittleBull, has been continued until February 2026.
The motion to continue the trial wasn’t objected to by the plaintiff.
The trial for Ackerman, who is charged with second degree murder, has been rescheduled for Feb. 10. The motions deadline is Jan. 9.
Chief District Judge Brian Morris noted, “Ackerman’s brief in support of his motion states that the government has produced a substantial amount of discovery. The work that needs to be undertaken to properly investigate, research pretrial motions, gather materials relevant to possible resolution, and trial preparation cannot be accomplished within the current schedule.”
According to court records, Ackerman killed three individuals with malice aforethought on or about Sept. 11 at and near Poplar. The victims were two females and a male.
Second-degree murder carries maximum penalties of life in prison, a $250,000 fine and five years of supervised release.
