Sheila Huertas-Scott

Sheila Marie Huertas-Scott, 37, of Fredericksburg, Va., died Oct. 5, 2025, in Richmond, Va. She was born on April 27, 1988, in Williston, N.D., to Pauline RedStar and Reginald Scott. She was adopted by her aunt, Nancy RedStar, and moved to Billings until she finished high school. She graduated Skyview High in 2006. While she was at Skyview, she participated in basketball and cross-country.

She joined the Air Force in 2006 and was honorably discharged in 2009.

She furthered her education by receiving her associate’s degree in business management from Germanna Community College and was working on her bachelor’s degree.

She loved spending time with sonm Giovanni Huertas; her two step-sons, Junior and Eli Reyes; along with her fiancé, Korrine Estrada.

She loved taking her dog Cash for walks. She would call back home to her sisters Laurel Menz, Marian and Nancy Scott, always joking around making each other laugh. She would call her adopted mother, Nancy RedStar to check up on her and her step-brothers, Earl and William Jones Jr. She had many stories for everyone.

She worked at Dairy Queen in Billings until moving home to Poplar, where she worked as a correctional officer at the adult corrections. She later became a police officer for the Fort Peck Tribes until she moved to Virginia in 2013. She worked for Costco. She was supervisor for Costco in Fredericksburg, Va., at the time of her death.

She is survived by her son, Giovanni Huertas; step sons, Junior and Eli Reyes; fiancé, Korrine Estrada; adopted mother, Nancy RedStar; step-brothers, Earl and William Jones Jr.; and siblings, Laurel Menz, Michael Menz, Marian Scott, Nancy Scott and Tricia RedStar.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Tyra and April Scott.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 23, the Poplar Cultural Center. Cremation followed. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
