Street Work Nears End For Year

As the weather cools in eastern Montana, the days are nearing their end for making improvements on Wolf Point’s streets.

Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak was pleased with the progress made during the summer months.

“We did as much as the budget can handle,” Dschaak said. “We did a lot this year as far as overlays.”

Dschaak said a sewer project is scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct. 27. “They will start and continue working weather permitting,” the mayor explained.

On a different note, new Wolf Point Police Chief Anthony Cambridge completed the week-long post-certification course held in Helena last week.

Cambridge is certified as a law officer in Vermont and Pennsylvania, but he needed to go through equivalency type training, Peace Officer Standards and Training, in Helena. Cambridge’s experience includes serving as a police chief for about six years. He is married and the father of four children.

Dschaak said his understanding is Cambridge will bring his family to Wolf Point in early November. The family has purchased a house in Wolf Point.

The police department is currently advertising to hire another officer. In addition, officer Frank Baker is completing training. He is scheduled to graduate from the POST program at the end of November.

Because no candidates filed in time for the November election for the open council positions in wards 2 and 4, Dschaak said the city council would need to appoint individuals to hold those positions.
