TEB Approves Spending, Grants
The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held its regular meeting Sept. 22 in Poplar.
The board voted to approve spending for the Tribal Transportation Program/IRR program in the amount of $3,016,265.71.
The offers of employment to all 11 FPSU Pharmacy Program staff were approved.
The family of Earlene Ackerman was approved for $500 and a star quilt, as was the family of Ronald Yellow Hammer and Sherri Shields for their years of service for the Fort Peck Tribes.
The board voted to give Justice Department Correction Court back to BIA due to inhumane conditions and gross negligence.
A change order for Moonlight Concrete was approved in the amount of $35,742.73 to provide concrete flat work and mezzanine finishes.
The proposal from Rodriguez Drywall N Taping was approved in the amount of $133,875 and CCC Construction in the amount of $124,925 to complete the above portion of work on the Poplar Head Start facility.
The Natural Resources Program’s recommendation to request one-time funding was approved in the amount of $115,366.00 to assist the BIA Realty Department.
The family of Aletha Chopper and the family of Albert Foote Sr. were approved to receive $500 and a star quilt in honor of their years of services for the Fort Peck Tribes.
Hereby approves of the budget and budget narrative for fiscal year 2026 for the funding amount of $349,095.00 for the Natural Resources Program.
Invoices of $84,462 for Sheridan Electric for the Sprole Irrigation Project and the Tribal Water Resource Office were approved.
Badger Drilling & Well Service was approved to provide water well services under the Natural Resources Range Improvement Program starting Sept. 22, 2025, to September 2028, The contract will not exceed over $300,000.
Tribal Health HPDP was approved to submit a grant application for funding to the MTHF.
A Memorandum of Understanding with Poplar Schools, Brockton Schools, Wolf Point Schools was approved.
A Memorandum of Understanding was approved between the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Reservation and Dr. Heather Grimm DYM of High Prairie veterinarian Services and Tina Bets His Medicine of Wolf Point Pound Puppies animal rescue. This MOA is a collaboration agreement to expand veterinarian and animal welfare services on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation by enhancing existing infrastructure and coordinating care for stray and surrendered animals. The service agreement between the Assiniboine and Sioux of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, Fort Peck Tribal Health Department and High Prairie Veterinary Services, PLLC. This agreement governs the expenditures and accountability of the $500,000 contribution by the Fort Peck Tribes for operations and maintenance funds of the Kennel Facility and Funds ensure consistent and human animal care services on the Fort Peck Reservation. The board also approved the long term lease agreement between the Fort Peck Tribes (Lessee) and Dr. Heather Grimm, DVM, High Prairie Veterinary Services, PLLC. The parties wish to collaborate in the establishment and operation of a kennel facility.
The board approved support for the submission of an application by the Fort Peck Community College to the National Institutes of Health under the NARCH planning grant.
The board authorized an additional $40,000 to the Tanya Firemoon Community Health Aid Program consultant for services rendered to the tribes.
A proposal from RTL Solid Construction Inc. was approved in the amount of $49,100.
Tribal arrest authority was approved under the reciprocal cross deputization agreement for RCSO deputy Dalyn Schmidt.
The board approved support for a block grant application for ICDBG for FY 2025 in the amount of $224,00.
A block grant application for ICDBG for FY 2025 in the amount of $6,000,000.
TEB is the duly elected body representing the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Reservation and is empowered to act on behalf of the Tribes. All actions shall be adherent to provisions set forth in the 1960 Constitution and By-Laws. The next full board meeting is set for Oct. 6.
