Man Charged With Theft From Hospital
John Frank Figueroa Jr. is facing the felony charge of theft in district court.
According to court documents, a Roosevelt County Sheriff’s deputy was advised that the Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson was reporting a theft on Aug. 19.
Hospital officials said that Figueroa was passed out while intoxicated in the Culbertson Val-Am restroom on Aug. 18 and was brought in by EMS staff. Video footage was available of Figueroa going into the EMS supply room while he was waiting to get released from the hospital.
He allegedly grabbed two duffel bags of RMC property that contained a chemical suit, powered air purifying respirator, haz-proof boots, chem tape and medical supplies. After he placed the bags outside of the facility, he walked back in the hospital and continued to wait to be released. The hazmat suit costs at least $1,500.
When the deputy went to Figueroa’s residence in Brockton, the deputy saw both bags inside the residence stacked together next to the wall. Without being questioned, Figueroa said, “I didn’t mean to do it, I was drunk.”
