TEB Debates Housing Position

The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board voted in favor of a motion to request the Fort Peck Housing Authority to rehire Louella Contreras Douglas as the housing director during its meeting on Monday, Sept. 8.

Voting in favor of the motion were seven board members including Ben Johnson, Lawrence Hamilton, Wayne Martell, Marva Chapman, Jestin Dupree, Rita Weeks and Dana Buckles.

Four directors didn’t vote, citing that TEB doesn’t have the authority to make such a decision. Those directors were Carolyn Brugh, Terry Rattling Thunder Sr., Stacey Summers and Roxanne Gourneau.

Those TEB directors noted that an article gives the housing board the authority to hire or terminate the housing director.

Gourneau noted that the housing authority isn’t mandated to act upon the TEB’s decision made on Monday. The housing board has been advertising the position.
