Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 152 calls during Aug. 25 to Sept. 1.
The calls included the following: Aug. 25
Deputies and the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice responded to a report of a domestic assault in Poplar. The complaint was that a male dragged a female into the house by the hair. The male was later located and FPTDLJ made the arrest.
Aug. 27
Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to Poplar where an adult male claimed another adult male threatened him. The suspect allegedly punched the door at the college’s library. Law enforcement instructed the male to stay away from the college campus and library.
Deputies received a call from an adult male at the tribal jail’s parking lot in Poplar. The male said that he was punched in the eye the night before by a female. A security camera provided a video of the incident. The report and video were forwarded to the tribal prosecutor’s office for simple assault charges.
Deputies received a report that a male was chasing vehicles on Broadway Avenue in Culbertson. Officers found Theodore Crowe, 38, laying in the street. He became combative with EMTs and tried to bite one. Crowe was arrested for disorderly conduct, assault and assault of a peace officer.
Aug. 28
Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to the Buckhorn Bar in Poplar for an argument between a male and female. The female said she got punched. The male couldn’t be located.
Aug. 29
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ and the Montana Highway Patrol on a report of a male being hit by a red pickup truck in Poplar. The victim was taken to the hospital and then flown out for medical treatment. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded.
Aug. 30
Deputies responded to Fort Kipp where an adult male was allegedly beaten up by his girlfriend. The suspect wasn’t there when deputies arrived. Later, she was arrested and taken to tribal jail for partner/family member assault.
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ on East Fairweather Street in Wolf Point for a report of an assault. Several individuals were located. An adult male was arrested and taken to tribal jail.
Someone made a false report that an individual was killed near the Poplar football field.
Aug. 31 Deputies received a call from Sheridan County regarding an adult male threatening to shoot up the Mint Bar in Froid. Two Roosevelt County Deputies went to the bar to talk with workers there. The Mint Bar decided to close the bar for the rest of the day. Sheridan County and Roosevelt County deputies searched for the suspect.
Deputies received a report from a Culbertson resident with safety concerns regarding a boater leaving a trailer and vehicle near the bridge overnight. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office was also notified. As of Monday morning, the individual still wasn’t located.
Sept. 1
A property owner said hunters from Texas were firing shots close to his house. Deputies told the hunters to stay away from the house.
