The Poplar Indians aim to keep improving throughout this football season.

“We have a handful of starters coming back from last season. We were senior heavy last season,” Coach Jason Brock said. “We are a young team. That is the foundation we are building on this season.”

The coach explains that most of the players back were letterwinners in 2024.

“So we are young, but most of our upperclassmen have played varsity football,” Brock said. “I consider our youth one of our strong points. It’s a great foundation of kids to get dialed in.”

Brock added that this is the second year that the coaching staff has worked together.

“Across the board we are getting stronger,” he said. “Our goal is to get mentally and physically stronger each day. Every day, any way, we get a little better.”

The conference is very tough including two-time consecutive state champion Fairview and traditional powers Scobey, Culbertson and Circle.

“All the teams in our conference are super tough. It is amazing on how talented our conference is,” Brock said.

The coach is looking forward to the upcoming season.

“We are young, but we have talent and athletes. It’s just a matter of coming together and doing our absolute best,” Brock said. “The dedication is there. It’s a whole new culture that we are building. Rome wasn’t built over night. New positive habits are being formed.”
