County Falls In State’s Unemployment Rate Standings
Roosevelt County has now dropped to the 53rd position as far as the unemployment rates for counties in Montana.
The county’s unemployment rate was recorded at 4.4 percent for July.
The other counties in the state with higher unemployment rates were Lincoln at 4.5, Glacier at 4.7 and Big Horn at 5.8.
Prairie County topped the rankings at 1.3 percent followed by Carter at 1.4, Powder River at 1.5, Liberty at 1.6 and Meagher at 1.6 percent.
The eastern Montana counties of Daniels, Richland and McCone tied for seventh place at 2.0 percent.
Other eastern Montana counties include Garfield at 2.2 for 16th place, Valley at 2.4 for 23rd place, Sheridan at 2.5 for 26th place and Phillips at 3.0 for 39th.
Unemployment rates for some of the state’s most populated counties include Gallatin at 2.1, Missoula at 2.6 and Yellowstone at 2.9.
As far as reservations, Fort Peck ranked second at 5.9 percent. Flathead was first at 3.9 percent.
It’s the 10th straight month that Montana’s unemployment rate is under 3 percent. The rate has been under 3.4 percent for four consecutive years.

Greg Gianforte said. “We’ll continue to welcome historic business investment to the Treasure State and innovate through workforce development initiatives like 406 JOBS for Montanans to seek meaningful employment.”
