WPCO Provides Powwow
The powwow by the Wolf Point Community Organization has been extended to two days this year. Events will take place on Thursday and Friday, July 1112, at the Wadopana Grounds.
The Wolf Point Community Organization’s community feed, featuring a chicken dinner, will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Prior to that night’s Stampede rodeo, Native dancers will provide an exhibit at the rodeo grounds.
“What we’re doing basically is, besides showing our cowboy tradition, we’re also showing our Native spirit,” Powwow organizer Wayne TwoBulls said of Stampede weekend.
Financial prizes will be given for men’s all categories, women’s all categories, teen boys’ all categories, teen girls’ all categories, junior boys’ all categories and junior girls’ all categories. Tiny Tots will be paid daily. All registered drums will be paid.
Tote Gray Hawk will serve as announcer. Jason Gray Hawk will be arena director.
Vendors and stands are welcome to join the celebration at no charge. Water and electricity are available.
“I hope everybody comes out and enjoy this,” TwoBulls said.
Spotted Bull Recovery Center will sponsor a petting zoo and horses from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
