WPCO Approves Donations
The Wolf Point Community Organizations approved donations during its meeting held at the Silverwolf Casino on Monday, June 16.
WPCO president Holly Hamilton saluted recent Wolf Point High School graduates Chase Adams and Amelia Doney for being the winners of WPCO’s $2,500 scholarships. WPCO’s members approved providing $2,000 for registration fees for both Wolf Point’s baseball and softball programs. WPCO also approved giving $2,000 for Wolf Point’s Legion “B” team to help pay for travel and field expenses.
A donation of $500 was approved for recent Wolf Point High School graduate Jack Bow so he can perform on the cheer squad during the Montana Shrine Football Game in Great Falls.
Donations approved last month included $4,000 to George Blount for the fireworks display, $4,600 for Frontier School for the National History Day competition in Maryland and $1,500 to purchase 300 coloring books from Vicki Bisbee.
WPCO officials announced that the Tribal Executive Board has approved giving $5,000 for Wolf Point’s powwow held during Stampede weekend.
During the Tribal Executive Board report, Roxanne Gourneau discussed the importance of having full and quality health care on the Fort Peck Reservation. She mentioned providing treatment for patients fighting cancer and diabetes. She said an MRI is needed in an area facility. Gourneau said physicians need to live here and be provided housing.
During the Fort Peck Housing Authority report, it was noted that the positions for executive director and finance officer are being advertised.
