Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 59 calls from June 16-23.
The calls included the following: June 17
Deputies received a report from a resident regarding a stolen rifle. Deputies entered the gun as stolen in the national computer system.
Deputies assisted Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice at the Poplar Hospital for a report from a female of a sexual assault. A male suspect was arrested by FPTDLJ.
June 18
Deputies, the Wolf Point Police Department and FPTDLJ responded to a report of an unattended death. The deputy/coroner determined that an adult male had committed suicide.
Deputies responded to Poplar tribal housing for a report of a domestic abuse assault. An adult male said his shoulder was injured when his adult son attacked him and then left the house. When deputies returned, the suspect had returned. Lester Menz Jr., 35, was arrested for partner/family member assault.
June 19
Deputies responded to Fort Kipp for a disturbance regarding an adult female who reportedly was intoxicated and was being verbally abusive. The suspect was found at a neighbor’s house. Daija Lizotte, 20, was placed under arrest on authority of a tribal bench warrant.
June 20
Deputies responded to Stockman’s Bar in Wolf Point regarding an adult male who was trying to start several fights. Deputies talked to one of the victims.
Deputies received a report that a man who had a warrant was at Albertsons in Wolf Point. After calling the jail to check the status of the warrant, deputies found that it was no longer valid. He was released.
June 22
Deputies responded to Wolf Point’s west end housing. A citizen reported seeing a registered male sex offender. It was discovered that the male had a warrant from the state of Montana and he was a tribal member. FPTDLJ was given the paperwork to request their own warrant.
Deputies responded to Fort Kipp regarding a report of an intoxicated adult male. The complaint was that the male was fighting with his brother and uncle. Neither victim wished to press charges.
