City Council Approves Parade, Street Dances

The Wolf Point City Council held its regular meeting June 16.

A letter from Scott Taylor critical of council members was read aloud during public comment. Town Pump manager Noreen Hohman also spoke, praising the efforts of city police and calling for increased community engagement.

A draw request for Great Northern Development Corporation was approved in the amount of $55,615, the bulk of which will be reimbursed by supplemental funding.

City Attorney Montana Wilson reported an uptick for incidents of partner family member assault charges and traffic violations.

Borge Park was reported vandalized, with 12 of 22 concrete tables damaged and damage reported to the Snack Shack. “At this time, there is no plan to be putting any tables back,” Mayor Chris Dschaak told attendees.

John Bach of Interstate Engineering provided an update on a considerable amount of asphalt work completed around town.

Dschaak asked community members to look out for construction cones and advisory signage around construction sites in town following damage to work sites from drivers.

The airport Capital Improvement Plan was approved, as was entitlement prospective lending in the amount of $125,000, pending requests in the future.

Planned Wolf Point Stampede street dance dates of July 10-11 were approved, as was the traditional parade route.

Greg Lukasik gave an update on the 6th Avenue storm water project. A low bid of $229,000 was received from Bridges Construction. The council approved the bid.

A representative from Losey Construction made a proposal for lot cleanup work on four city owned properties. The issue was sent to the sanitation committee for further consideration.

Revenue and expense reports were approved, as were treasurer’s cash reports and securities.

The next regular council meeting is set for July 21.
