Theatre For A Young Audience Tour Returns

Theatre for Young Audience is designed to educate and enlighten youth, with a goal to bring visibility, excitement and awareness about the performing arts. Under an hour in length, TYA productions are perfect for the entire family: geared towards children, but sure to engage all ages while it encourages and fosters a love for theatre. Admission for these performances is free. This year’s show is Turtle the Theatre Cat.

Said a press release from the Fort Peck Summer Theatre’s Fine Arts Council, “It is time to sign up for the annual talent show, but Turtle the Cat is not certain that she wants to be in the spotlight. Her friends encourage her to explore all aspects of theatre in preparation for the big show, including costumes, lights and scenery. Though she has a few hiccups and follies, she learns all the secrets of the magic behind the scenes and more importantly, the vitality of everyone’s creative roles!”

Turtle the Theatre Cat is directed by FPST alum Megan Wiltshire and stars Reese Watson and Jenny Smith as Turtle, alongside Shy Iverson (who also serves as scenic and props designer) and Brittany Archambeault. Debra Griebel is costume designer, with Annika Smith as assistant scenic designer.

Showtime and locations for Turtle the Theatre Cat tour include the following: Glasgow Library, Tuesday, June 24 at 10 a.m.; Sheridan Library (Plentywood), Wednesday, June 25 at 11 a.m.; Rex Theatre (Scobey), Wednesday, June 25 at 2:30 p.m.; Phillips County Museum (Malta), Thursday, June 26 at 2 p.m.; and the Fort Peck Interpretive Center, Saturday, June 28 at 10 a.m. Performances are also scheduled for July 2 in Miles City and July 7 in Winnett.
