Knierim Family Scholarship Available

The Knierim family is encouraging students in college classes to send their transcripts and applications to apply for awards toward their expenses in the fall. Students must have completed at least a full year of post secondary schooling and have residency in Valley, Roosevelt, Sheridan or Daniel counties.

Students can find the application at www.knierimfamilyscholarships. com. All applications are due by July 15.

The scholarships were established to honor Dr. and Mrs. Frederick Knierim, an early doctor and school teacher, who lived and worked in Valley County from the construction of the Fort Peck Dam into the 1970’s. Dr. Knierim first practiced medicine for men who were constructing the dam, and his wife taught huge classes of first graders during the construction boom. Dr. Knierim had a medical practice that spanned the four counties for northeastern Montana for more than 40 years.
