Work To Include Sewer, Street Projects In Wolf Point
Wolf Point city workers will continue making progress on sewer projects during the summer months.
“There will be a fair amount of sewer updates including the pump house,” Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak said of plans for the summer months.
A storm water project will be conducted for some of Sixth Avenue, but there’s not enough funding to cover the entire section. Open cut spots on Dawson Street will be addressed. City officials were hoping to do a total repair on Dawson, but the price tag would be in the neighborhood of $800,000.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have $800,000,” Dschaak said. “We were hoping to do the whole thing, but we don’t have the finances to do it.”
The city will be receiving bids for sewer updates for the southside of town. Work, however, probably won’t start this year. Dschaak said progress with projects are constantly being made based on the amount of funds available. At the end of phase three of the sewer project, about $15 million of updates would be done. The great majority of the funding is from state or federal sources.
The city’s only loan is $3.5 million from rural development.
