Library Board Discusses Painting Class, Summer Reading

The Roosevelt County Library Board held its regular meeting May 3 in Culbertson. The meeting was called to order at 10:07 a.m. Joyce Harvey, board chair, was in attendance, as were trustee Helen Welte, director Janet Livingston, Culbertson librarian Mary Drake, Froid librarian Cheyenne Heller and Cara Orban, Montana statewide consulting librarian.

The board voted to table a possible evaluation of director Livingston.

Orban led training and discussion about reading statements of accounts, as there have been issues with members being able to read the printouts provided.

The budget worksheet for the coming fiscal year was discussed and filled out.

Members were asked if they would like to have 15 to 30 minutes of training at each meeting moving forward. It was decided it would be good to have training. Credits may be earned toward respective certifications.

Drake reported that Culbertson has now finished doing inventory. Drake also reported that there was no pie social party in May because of a funeral. She said the event has been rescheduled.

Heller reported Froid is busy planning for the Summer Reading Program and other programs to draw in patrons.

The main branch is planning an adult painting class in the fall. Members are working on a matching grant through the Montana Arts Council to make it possible.

Livingston has been asking businesses in town if they would like to partner with the library for this grant. Cat Mcintyre, who has been teaching the Bigger Sky Kids program in Wolf Point, will lead the library class.

The Friends of the Library have not had a recent meeting.

The baby-changing station that came in February has not been installed yet at the main. A request for work orders from the Roosevelt County commissioners was suggested. It was also reported that the main currently has no janitor.

The next monthly meeting is tentatively scheduled for June 28 in Wolf Point.
