The high school graduation ceremony in Frazer on Friday, May 16, featured four graduates as Baily Beston, Takoa Old Person, Audrey Smoker and Noah Talks Different received their diplomas.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sarah Ruff encouraged parents, grandparents and family members to stand up in order to acknowledge their valuable contributions to students.

She said the night wasn’t only a celebration of the end of a chapter, but it was the beginning of a new journey.

Old Person, the valedictorian of the class, talked about the students’ determination to succeed and it was a time to celebrate four years of accomplishments.

In her speech, Old Person asked students to remember their values and to embrace the unknown. She said the young adults should learn from their failures and urged them to use their talents for a positive impact in the world. She told her classmates to dare to dream big and reach their goals.

Beston, the salutatorian of the class, thanked her classmates and other friends to make the occasional long days a little brighter. Beston said as graduates step into the next chapter of their lives, they should remember the best is yet to come.

Guest speaker William Henry encouraged students to have a circular impact in their lives. He urged graduates to come back and support the community of Frazer.

The ceremony also featured a honor song performed by Roger White. Fort Peck Tribal Education Awards were presented by TEB member Dana Buckles to high school and eighth-grade graduates.

The class motto was “Memento Vivere (Remember to Live).”

Students honored as eighth-grade graduates were BriAnna Beston, Kiona Follet, Bryce Fourstar, Katelyn Jackson, Elli Mail, Ronald Roundface and Magdalene Toavs.

Mary Zuchowski served as the senior class advisor while Justine Smoker was the eighth-grade advisor.
