Wolf Point Council Hires Police Officers
The Wolf Point City Council held its regular meeting April 21. Two new hires were approved for the Wolf Point Police Department in new patrol officer Trevin Boysun and new animal control officer Dominic Ahneman.
Longtime police chief Jeff Harada has been appointed interim administrative chief for what is expected to be a three-month stint while a search for a new police chief is conducted.
During public comment, Robert Manning appeared to retract accusations made at the March 17 regular meeting against council member Ken Hentges regarding an alleged confrontation at an area business. A video of the interaction circulated on social media showed Manning’s claims were false.
The asphalt plant is up and running and the landfill has moved to summer hours. Clean Sweep is under way April 28 to May 10, with the city dump accessible for free from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on May 4. This year’s citywide cleanup effort will be conducted with curbside pickup, rather than alley pickup.
A motion to send the proposed sale of Triangle Park back to committee for additional consideration was defeated by a vote of 6-2.
Marianne Zilkoski Rees has been hired as recreation director and Tiffani Darby is pool manager.
A motion was passed handing responsibility for all business inspections and building permits over to the state moving forward.
June 16 is the filing deadline to run for one of four spots coming open on the council. Mayor Chris Dschaak has filed to run again. He is currently running unopposed.
The next regular council meeting is set for May 19.
