Froid Council Closes On Chicken Ordinance
The Froid Town Council held its regular meeting April 14. The full council was in attendance.
Public works director Alan Engelke reported that he had several water shut off requests for houses that will be empty. He shut off the circulation pump at the water tower and said there is still some remaining pothole patch available.
Engelke also said some of the town valves have been cleaned out and said remaining work is ongoing.
A first reading of the ordinance allowing for up to six female chickens received a first reading. After discussion, the council agreed to move forward with a second reading at the May council meeting, including amended language allowing for up to 12 female chickens.
A motion was passed adopting the 2025 Eastern Montana Region Hazard Mitigation Plan.
A town clean up day is planned beginning at noon on May 4. Two-three roll off dumpsters are expected courtesy Russell Bowker. Contact the town office for more information.
Alisha Maiolo told the council that the Froid Rod and Gun Club has ordered new roasters for the community center. She also said that other organizations like GIA, Northern Lights Park and the Commercial Club are all willing to donate to help maintain community center.
The next regular council meeting is set for May 12.
