Frazer Students Earn Honors Frazer Students Earn Honors

Frazer High School’s National History Day students (from left) Nayla Old Person, Journey Jackson, Takoa Old Person, Aubrey Mail, Maci Fourstar-Sibley and Elli Mail traveled to Bozeman for their state competition on April 12. For junior group exhibits Old Person, Jackson and Mila Smoker and their board about Eloise Cobell earned honors. Also winning honors in the category were E. Mail and Bethany Hotomanie and their board about the creation of the Rocky Boy Reservation. This also won an award from the Montana 250th Commission for Excellence in Indigenous History and Culture. In the senior group exhibit category, Fourstar-Sibley and A. Mail received honors for their board about Rights of Women in Greece. For the senior paper category, Old Person and her paper on the federal government’s failure to ensure voting rights for native people with the Snyder Act of 1924 received honors. Old Person also won an award from the Montana 250th Commission for Excellence in Indigenous History and Culture. She qualified for nationals, which will be held in Washington, D.C.. on June 8-12.
