Changes Announced For Local Ministry

Change — often just the sound of doing something new or different sends chills up and down our spine. It can be difficult, hard to accept and we might at times dig our heels into the ground and defy it. Since coming to Wolf Point just four years ago, I have seen folks stand firm and use that well worn phrase that pastors all over the world dread; “We have never done it that way before.”

So it was as 3½ years ago God gave some of us the vision to help, in a very small way, those homeless and hungry people on the streets of Wolf Point. It wasn’t a mission taken lightly. Jesus told us if we loved Him we would do just that, and we did.

Several Bible passages emphasize the importance of feeding the hungry and helping those in need. Isaiah 58:10-14 says to “feed the hungry and help those in trouble” and promises that doing so will bring light and blessings. Matthew 25:35-40 highlights that feeding the hungry is a way of showing love for Christ, and Luke 6:20-21 blesses those who are hungry as a sign of their future fulfillment. Deuteronomy 15:11 commands to be open-handed to the poor, acknowledging the need for ongoing care for the needy.

So many in the community were so helpful with multitudes of donations; food, clothing and financial help. We grew from the old Green Bean Ford Wagon to a clothing room, “Hubbard’s Cupboard,” and regular days on the street with food and clothing. Thank you so much.

Of course, that wasn’t the mind set of everyone and in October of last year many changes were needed in the Bread of Life Ministry. The most drastic was quite a bit of down-sizing. We began looking for a building to fit our need.

Fast forward to today May 2025. Sandy and I have accepted a call to pastor a church in Iowa. When we first thought about a move our major concern was who will take over the (now called) The Living Bread Ministry?

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us that in everything we do seek Him and acknowledge His wisdom and He will give direction.

Well, we meet with Pastor Billy Jo Sherman of the God’s Grace Community Church, 500 Helena St., and he stepped up and will be adding some of our ministries to those God has already given him. How wonderful is that? We praise God for what He has done and will continue to do in Wolf Point.

We will be leaving in June but not without some wonderful memories of friends and ministry family. You have shown and will continue to show the love of Jesus to this community.
