Robert “Bob” Candee, 82, died on Sept. 26, 2024, at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care in Glendive. He was born on May 23, 1942, in Fairview, the youngest child of Alfred and Fay Candee. He graduated from Sidney High School and then attended Montana State University - Billings studying history. After college, he went back to his roots, returning to his parents’ farm to start his career and life farming and ranching. He eventually started his own farm just north of Richey and was very involved in the Richey High School FFA chapter, donating his time and money to make sure there were resources available for young farmers. The FFA building at the Richey High School was named in his honor and he will continue to provide scholarships for local students in his memory. His passion for farming also inspired him to run for U.S. Senate in 2002 to protect the farmers and rural communities of eastern Montana. In 1963, he married Judy Roberts and together they started a family, having three children: Tanya, Bryan and Boyd. H is survived by children Tanya Asbeck, Bryan Candee and Boyd Candee; six grandchildren; and sister, Charlotte Kennedy. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Fulkerson Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Sidney, with Pastor Sione Fungalei officiating. Burial was at the Sidney Cemetery.

Roger C. Moran (aka Roger Whitetail), 77, of Glasgow died Sept. 22, 2024, at his home. He was born June 8, 1947, in Browning to Roger J. Moran and Imelda Grant. He received his early education at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and graduated from Glasgow High School. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Moran; and sister, Becky Moran. He is survived by this three sons, Mike Moran, John Moran and Lee Moran; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters: Mary Shipp, Kathy Hoffman, Linda Ritten and Glenda Glades. As per his request, cremation has taken place. Services will be held at a later date.

Michelle Dorene Aims-Back, 37, of Poplar and Spirit Lake, N.D., died Sept. 22, 2024. She was born in Williston, N.D., to Mavis Hernandez and Francis AimsBack. She grew up in Poplar where she attended the Poplar schools and eventually graduated the eighth grade from Wahpeton, N.D. She then attended Poplar High School and later attended Job Corps at Kicking Horse and Clearfield, Utah, where she received her high school diploma and earned her CNA certificate. When she returned from Job Corps, she met her lifelong friend, Jeremy GrayWater Sr. They started their family and eventually moved to Spirit Lake, N.D., where she worked at the casino and as a cashier. She returned to Poplar for a short while and was employed at Tribal Express but then returned to North Dakota. She is survived by her lifelong friend, Jeremy GrayWater Sr.; children, Lillian, Alex “Chuck,” Jeremy Jr. “JuJu,” Elizabeth, Callen, Mavis “Mavie,” Dillon and Raven Gray-Water, all of North Dakota; sisters, Robyn Hernandez, Margaret Hernandez and Elayne Scott; adopted father, Keith Olson; father, Francis AimsBack of Browning; as well as other brothers, sisters and grandparents. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Chad Hernandez and Conrad Scott. A viewing took place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will be at Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Joni D. Perry Johnson, 43, of Fort Kipp died Sept. 24, 2024, in Billings. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp. Cremation will follow. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
