Poplar Man Found Dead In Fergus County
The Fergus County Sheriff’s Office reports that Kevin Burshia, 40 years old from Poplar, was found dead east of Moore on Monday, Dec. 2.
Central Montana Dispatch received a call about a vehicle parked in the middle of a gravel road near U.S. Highway 87 at 8:04 a.m. on Dec. 2. The caller said there was a pile of clothes next to the vehicle and nobody could be seen around.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a vehicle unoccupied with the engine running. There was one set of footprints leading away from the vehicle into a field. Due to the cold weather, the sheriffs office immediately activated their K9 and Drone teams as well as Central Montana Search and Rescue to assist in the search.
The footprints lasted for about 2-3 miles and led to the body of a deceased male who was unclothed. Burshia was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was sent to the Montana Medical Examiner’s Office. Initial findings indicate signs of hypothermia. Drugs and/or alcohol may have been a factor in the incident. No foul play is suspected.
