Moon Sees Bright Days Ahead For His Seasons
Senior Profile
Culbertson High School senior Reese Moon is looking forward to standout athletic seasons after a challenging junior year.
Due to a torn ACL, Moon missed most of last football season and wasn’t at full speed during the track campaign last school year. He now feels close, if not at, 100 percent.
“With football, there’s bumps and bruises with the knee, but I’m good,” the running back/linebacker said. “By track, I will be perfect.”
He noted that he was a bit tentative until his knee brace broke during week two of this football season. He played the game without the brace, and everything went fine.
Moon said his goal for this football season is for the Cowboys to win the state championship.
“I think we’re talented enough,” Moon said of the football squad. “We’re staying as a family and working together.”
During track season, Moon has placed at the divisional meet in the long jump, triple jump, 100-meter dash, 200 and 400-meter relay.
His favorite event is the long jump. “I’ve been good at it since I was young,” Moon said of the long jump.
Goals for the track season include breaking the school record and placing at state in the long jump. The current school record is 22-2. Moon’s personal best is 20-8 in his sophomore season.
The National Honor Society member said his favorite teacher is Elizabeth Standley. He doesn’t have a favorite class.
After high school, Moon hopes to play collegiate football. Career goals include either being an electrician or going into sports medicine.
