Wolf Point Hires Music Teacher

The Wolf Point School District’s search for a new band and choir teacher has ended successfully.

Jacob Bradshaw was hired for the position by the Wolf Point School Board on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Wolf Point Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Perkins said it is “absolutely” a relief to fill the position.

Perkins noted there are several reasons why it’s important to have a band and choir teacher in place. He mentioned the pep band playing at sports games and providing a positive atmosphere at the school.

“It’s all spirit,” Perkins said. Hiring the teacher prior to the school year is also key for scheduling and it gives students a quality fine art subject to study as well.

Bradshaw earned his bachelor’s degree in musical education from Utah Valley University. He then obtained his master’s degree in music conducting from Messiah University in Pennsylvania.

Bradshaw’s experience includes teaching at Frontier High School in Utah during 2011-2012. Teaching positions have included West Jordan High School in Utah for five years, Herriman High School in Utah and Fremont High School in Utah.

The music position became open when Russell Johnson resigned to take a similar position in Williston, N.D., at the end of last school year.

Also hired during last week’s meeting was Will Larsen as a high school science teacher. The meeting also included the resignation of high school English teacher Douglas Evans.

Vacancies still include agriculture education and two English positions.
