County Library Board Meets In Froid

The Roosevelt County Library Board held its regular meeting July 16 at the Froid branch. The meeting started at 5 p.m. Joyce Harvey, Vernie Madison, Helen Welte, Gretchen Wagner, Clayton Dillon and Janet Livingston were in attendance.

It was reported that there was a meeting May 18 in Wolf Point with Suzanne Reymer from the Montana State Library joining via Zoom. Since there was no quorum, no business could be conducted. With Reymer’s assistance, members in attendance worked on the strategic plan.

Meeting minutes were passed and the statements of accounts were looked over. There were no unusual purchases made. Livingston shared the estimate from Triple A Glass in Glasgow to replace the four windows in the office.

Joyce Harvey read the first draft of the strategic plan aloud. After discussion, there were a few corrections and additions noted. The last part of the plan was suggested by Reymer. She had suggested wording that could be used for this goal. After a reading of her suggestion, it was decided that Livingston will type up a second draft that includes the suggested wording for review at the next meeting.

The Video Surveillance Policy was reread and passed.

Harvey is retiring in August after working at the Froid Library for 13 years. Trustees suggested an ad be placed in area newspapers.

At the Main, a good turnout was reported for Jeff Quinn. New gutters were being installed on the day of the meeting. The air-conditioning in the library has not been working, according to staff. One of the library’s air-conditioning units was reported down and needs to be replaced, with the other one reported as, “able to be fixed,” by Livingston.

Every July, the chairperson and vice-chair for the board are voted into office. Joyce Harvey and Vernie Madison were re-elected into those positions.

The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for September 21 in Poplar.
