Commissioners Approve County Fair Fence Project
The Roosevelt County Commissioners unanimously approved the addition of a fence for the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds in Culbertson.
The six-foot fence will cover about three-fourths of the fairgrounds. There is airport fencing in the back area of the fairgrounds. The plan is to have the project start during the end of August or beginning of September.
Badland Fencing of Wolf Point had the winning bid of three bidders. Cost is $35,500 plus another $3,200 for near the concessions area.
Commissioners approved the project on a 3-0 vote.
Also during the weekly meeting held on July 23, commissioners approved purchasing a new Meeting Owl 4 video conferencing device for $2,012. Commissioners said the current Owl has caused them many technical problems, but the same type of system works well for the health department.
The county renewed its contract with TQN Consulting to assist the treasurers office and Department of Revenue as an independent contractor. Pay is $220 per day up to five days per week.
Commissioners approved renewing the county’s Healthy is Wellness Contract. Being part of the program is voluntarily for employees. The county and its health provider each pay half of the fees for the program. A new service offered is expected to be diabetes testing.
“It’s a good benefit for employees,” Commissioner Robert Toavs said.
Jonah Riediger was hired for the county road department.
Karla Williams was approved for a pay raise.
