Area Hits Temperature Records
Area residents suffered with extremely hot temperatures on Wednesday, July 24, and Thursday, July 25.
The National Weather Service in Glasgow reported several record breaking temperatures on Wednesday. Those records included 109 degrees in Glasgow, where the previous high mark was 108 degrees in 1929. Jordan also reached 109 degrees, and its previous high temperature for the date was 108 degrees in 1931. Medicine Lake set a new record of 109 degrees. The old record was 104 in 1931.
Other records included 107 degrees in Dry Blood Creek and 106 degrees in Malta.
The Wolf Point airport reported a high temperature of 108 degrees. The record stands at 111 degrees in 20007.
Poplar just missed setting a new record with a high of 108 degrees. The record is 109 degrees in 2007.
Because of cloud covered Wolf Point west, the temperatures were not as high as anticipated on Thursday, July 25.
Glendive as one of the hot spots at 108 degrees. Medicine Lake reached 104 degrees.
Wolf Point and Poplar each recorded highs of 102 degrees. Glasgow and Jordan had highs of 101 degrees.
The extended forecast for the area calls for highs in the upper 90s on Thursday, Aug. 1, Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3.
