Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 86 calls from July 1-8. The incidents included: July 1
Deputies responded to the Fort Peck Community College in Poplar to investigate a transient who was possibly an unregistered sexual offender. The man said he was registered as an offender with the tribes. Deputies transported him to Wolf Point to get him registered in Roosevelt County. He then asked to be taken to North Dakota, so deputies dropped him off at the state line.
Deputies conducted a welfare check near the Buckhorn Bar in Poplar. A male was passed out behind the building. He left the area on his own power.
Deputies near Wolf Point noticed a vehicle was parked with hazard lights on. The driver was advised to contact a tow truck company.
July 2
Deputies responded to a report of a male threatening to damage someone else’s property in Poplar. The Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice also responded. The male allegedly stole several items from a property. Kenneth Olson III, 23, Poplar, was charged with disorderly conduct. After a search, he was also charged with the unlawful possession of drugs.
Deputies responded after FPTDLJ observed an assault taking place in Poplar. FPTDLJ arrested an adult female, Corvette Olson, 35, for disorderly conduct.
Deputies reported to Highway 16, mile marker 88, north of Culbertson for a semitruck with a wide load that struck a guard rail and caused damage. The Montana Highway Patrol was notified.
Deputies received a report from an adult male of an assault. No charges were filed.
Deputies and FPTDLJ removed an intoxicated male from the airport addition in Poplar. He agreed to leave the area on his own.
July 3
Deputies responded to Trinity Lutheran Church, Culbertson for a burglary report. The incident is under investigation.
The Valley County Sheriff’s Office advised that there was a disturbance near Oswego. FPTDLJ was also dispatched. During the process of an arrest, the adult male tried to break windows in a FPTDLJ vehicle.
Deputies performed a welfare check of an adult male at the Buckhorn Bar in Poplar. The male had dried blood on his face, but he said he wasn’t injured. He left to go home.
Deputies responded to an argument between a male and female in Poplar. There were no injuries.
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ with a report at tribal housing of a male pulling a knife on another male.
July 4
Deputies responded to the rest stop in Culbertson because of a report of two individuals sleeping in a vehicle. Officers found that the driver was wanted on a state warrant for failure to appear in Stillwater County. Kari Bouchard, 44, was transported to the Roosevelt County jail.
Deputies responded to a dumpster fire at the rest stop in Culbertson. Deputies are investigating the incident.
July 5
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ with a report of an intoxicated male at the Town Pump in Wolf Point. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
July 6
Deputies responded to a mobile home fire in Poplar. Cause of fire is believed to be that a power line fell on a tree and created the fire. There were no injuries.
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ with a call in Poplar that a female pulled a gun on a male and also threw a cooler at a male. She was placed under arrest by FPTDLJ. The firearm was seized.
July 7
Deputies received a report that someone stole a shampooer from a house in Poplar.
Deputies and FPTDLJ received a complaint in Poplar that some females were being harassed by another group of people. Authorities were unable to locate the group.
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ regarding a complaint that someone shooting off fireworks in Wolf Point. Officers told the individuals to shut it down.
In addition, the RCSO had the following activity: Wolf Point city limits, eight; Wolf Point rural, six; Wolf Point FPHA, two; Poplar city limits, 26; Poplar rural, five; Poplar FPHA, three; Culbertson town, 16; Culbertson rural, nine; Bainville town, two; Bainville rural, five; Froid town, one; Brockton town, one; Fort Kipp, two; total, 86.
