Trustees Agree On Bonus For Superintendent
The Wolf Point School Board unanimously agreed during a meeting on Monday, June 24, to reward Superintendent Dr. David Perkins with a bonus for his efforts in leading the school district.
Trustee Trenton Wemmer made the motion to give Perkins a $10,000 bonus. The motion was seconded by trustee Sarah Copenhaver and approved by all trustees.
“You’re turning out a great team for us,” board chair Roxanne Gourneau said.
Perkins agreed to a three-year contract of $130,000 in May 2023. Since that time, the contract has been extended by a year.
“I wasn’t asking for that much, I feel it’s pretty sufficient,” Perkins said to trustees during the meeting. “Thank you, I wasn’t expecting that much.”
Prior to coming to Wolf Point, Perkins was the superintendent in Custer for 10 years. He also has a lot of educational experience in Texas including being selected the mentor network principal of the year.
Also during the meeting, trustees hired Alfonso Rivera as a high school science teacher and Mateo Molino as a junior high math teacher.
Trustees agreed on the dismissal of a tenured teacher.
Perkins said the teacher was informed of the reasons for the dismissal in a letter dated on June 12. The teacher notified the school district with a letter dated June 20 that he was waiving the right to a hearing.
