Incumbent Frank J. Smith fought off Lance FourStar in the Democratic primary election for House District 31 on Tuesday, June 4.

Smith received 311 votes compared to FourStar’s 199 votes. In Roosevelt County, Smith had 228 votes compared to FourStar’s 154 votes.

Smith now will face Republican Kevin Taylor, who received 630 votes in the primary election.

In the Democratic primary for Senate District 16, Jonathan Windy Boy received 645 votes to Bridget Smith’s 306 votes. Windy Boy defeated Smith, 226-154, in Roosevelt County.

Windy Boy will face Republican Perri Jacobs in the general election.

For the Senate District 15 Republican primary, Gregg Hunter received 2,911 votes compared to Rhonda Knudsen’s 1,770 votes.

Republican Valerie Moore defeated Miles Knudsen, 2,018-916, in the House District 29 race.

In the primary election for district court judge for district 15, Benjamin Fosland received 1,846 votes and Janet Christoffersen had 1,185 votes.

Republican primary winners for statewide elections included Tim Sheehy for U.S. Senator, Troy Downing for U.S. Representative for district 2, Ryan Zinke for U.S. Representative for district 1, Greg Gianforte for governor, Christi Jacobsen for secretary of state, Austin Knudsen for attorney general, James Brown for state auditor, Susie Hedalen for state superintendent of public instruction and Bowen Greenwood for clerk of the supreme court. Democrats winning statewide primary elections included Jon Tester for U.S. Senator, John Driscoll for U.S. Representative for district 2, Monica Tranel for U.S. Representative for district 1, Ryan Busse for governor, Jesse Mullen for secretary of state, Ben Alke for attorney general, John Repke for state auditor, Shannon O’Brien for state superintendent of public instruction and Erin Farris-Olsen for clerk of the supreme court.

The top two candidates in the Supreme Court Justice #3 race were Katherine Bidegaray with 48 percent of the vote and Dan Wilson with 35 percent of the vote.
