Legion Seeks Additional Members

State Event Scheduled In Glasgow

The Wolf Point American Legion Post is reaching out to potential new members to make the organization stronger in the community.

Eric Nelson, one of Wolf Point Post’s leaders, said there are currently 28 on the post’s roster. Many of those members, however, aren’t very active.

Nelson said an individual needs to be a member of the military, either past or present, to be eligible to join the organization.

Those interested in joining should call Nelson at 406480-1869.

Nelson is enthused that the state American Legion convention will be in Glasgow June 27-30. All American Legion, Sons of American Legion and Auxiliary are invited to attend. Pre-registration is encouraged before as cost will be $5 more at the door.

The convention features meetings and meals. Although most meals will be in Glasgow, a barbecue is planned at Kiwanis Park in Fort Peck. The convention will also include tours at the Veterans Memorial, the interpretive center, the power houses and the lake area.

The Auxiliary meets at the Cottonwood Inn, while the American Legion and the Sons of American Legion will be at the Valley Event Center.

A VA stand-down is scheduled for June 26 at the VA clinic and June 27 at the Cottonwood Inn. The national American Legion commander will attend these events.

To register, contact Joe Yeoman, Adjutant Post 41, American Legion, 406-2630080.
