The Lustre Lions enjoyed an excellent Saturday afternoon to capture the thirdplace trophy at the Class C state track meet.

The Lions finished with 42 points for third-place honors. Belt’s boys won the state title with 67 points while Manhattan Christian placed second with 56 points. Hobson- Moore took fourth with 33 points.

Terran Joseph earned the state championship in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 22.95 seconds. Joseph finished fourth in the 100 at 11.58 seconds.

Johnslee Pierre also had an outstanding meet for the Lions. The sophomore placed second in the long jump at 21-6.

He earned third in the triple jump at 43-4 and third in the 300-meter hurdles at 40.17 seconds.

Lustre’s 1600-meter relay team featuring Brian Guedes, Byron Ewing, Joseph and Pierre earned third-place honors with a time of 3:31.16.

The Lions’ 400-meter relay team consisting of Emeka Aniobi, Pierre, Guedes and Joseph finished fifth with a time of 44.71 seconds.

Taking seventh in events were Prestyn Klatt in the 3200 and Joseph in the 400.

In the girls’ division, Savage and Roberts each scored 61 points to be the co-state champions.

Scobey’s girls placed third with 51 points.
