The Wolf Point City Council held their regular meeting May 20. A motion was passed to hire Poplar’s Montana Duke Wilson as the new city attorney. Council member Lance FourStar thanked outgoing attorney Phillip Defelice for his service on behalf of the city.

Mayor Chris Dschaak said that 524 Main Street near the high school has been selected as a property for dedicated clean up efforts in cooperation with Roosevelt County. Dschaak said crews will begin in the fall.

Greg Lukasik with Great West Engineering provided an update on wastewater system improvements. He said phase three of the project is looking at a construction start in 2026. Bid requests are coming in on the project. A draw request were approved in the amount of $5,000. Resolutions were passed authorizing grant applications and environmental assessment for phase one of the project.

The public works report included the excavation and installation of water main and valves by Bridges Construction. City crews built and tested water meters, serviced city vehicles and made improvements at the fire hall. Progress was reported on cover at the landfill and crews helped with cleaning and greasing equipment at the hot plant. Some problems were reported with a city sewer pump, but it has been fixed. Marianne Zilkoski Rees has been organizing baseball and Tiffany Darby is organizing life guard training. The first game for Babe Ruth baseball is set for May 25. A pool cleaning is set for June.

Brianna Vine from the Great Northern Development Corporation provided an update about Custer Street improvements. A draw request was made for GNDC in the amount of $35,100 for down payments on two manufactured homes and other items related to advertising and administrative items. She said the two homes will be built within a five week window.

The next council meeting is set for June 17..
