Numerous Lustre Christian High School students qualified to attend State Music Festival on May 3-4 at the District Music Festival, held at Culbertson on Saturday, April 20.
Those qualifying included Mason Hilkemann, Hadden Olfert and Cam Reddig with Amazing Grace as a saxophone trio; Emeka Aniobi soloing Deep River on his bari sax; and piano solos by Hannah Brown with Intrada by Graupner and Hannah Marasco playing Schlummerlied by Schumann.
Vocal solos included Hannah Marasco, singing For Your Pleasure by Farrell; Katie Calderon singing Castle on a Cloud by Boulbill & Schoenberg; and Byron Ewing singing Go Down Moses arranged by Royal Stanton. Rachel Pew and Anna Teichroew qualified with a vocal duet, singing Homeward Bound arranged by Jay Alhouse.
A trumpet/trombone duet
Easy Does It by Agioritis was performed by Diek Olfert and Nathan Fast. Abby Olfert, Grace Brown and Diek Olfert qualified with Gavotte in Rondeau by Lully in a trumpet trio.
The spring concert for LCHS was scheduled for May 1 at the Lustre EMB Church at 7 p.m. It includes music from the grades 5-8 of the Lustre Grade School, all under the direction of Dan Marasco. The Lustre Grade School is presenting their spring program at 1 p.m. on May 10 in their gymnasium under the direction of Prince Agbisit.
May 11 is the District Track Meet which will be held at Wolf Point. May 19 is LCHS graduation, and May 22 is the eighth-grade graduation of Lustre Grade School.
