Culbertson lines up its largest golf squad in memory as the team begins its 2024 campaign.

“Our team nearly doubled in size from last year,” Culbertson coach Jimie Lou Morris said. “The golf team this year has six boys and four girls.”

Returning golfers for the boys’ team are senior Mathew Wadsworth and Mark Kirkaldie.

Newcomers for the Cowboys include junior Bridger Salvevold, sophomore Ian Snyder, sophomore Leland Pirkle and freshman Gina Sager.

Macy Lambert, a junior, is the lone returning player for the Cowgirls.

Newcomers on the girls’ side are sophomores Sublime Cady, Isabella Apple and Josie Simonsen.

“I would like to see some of the Culbertson golfers place at regular season meets and hopefully get at least one, if not multiple, state qualifiers,” Morris said. “We have some strong golfers on the boys’ side who I believe will perform well and some promising new golfers on the girls’ side.”

She noted that the addition of an assistant coach is helping coaches work more closely with the students to improve their skills on the course.

“Aside from competitive goals, I hope the returning golfers continue to enjoy golf and put in the work outside of practice to fine tune their game,” Morris said. “I hope the new golfers will learn to love the game, even though it can be frustrating sometimes, have fun and represent CHS well on the golf course.”
